Chair’s Message
This is my third Annual Report as the Chair of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal. The year 2021 was another challenging year, but one in which the WSIAT continued to adapt and innovate.
I am proud to report that the WSIAT’s Order in Council (OIC) appointees and staff worked creatively and diligently to ensure that we continued to fulfill our core mandate of providing timely access to justice in 2021. While OICs and staff primarily worked remotely and the WSIAT offered mainly remote virtual hearing methods, the WSIAT continued to reduce the wait time to hearing, in spite of a substantial increase in incoming appeals. We also launched the E-Share pilot project and improved the E-filing tool in response to stakeholder feedback.
