The worker suffered a left foot injury in December 2012. The worker appealed a decision of the Appeals Resolution Officer denying entitlement for a right foot injury as a secondary condition.
At the hearing, the worker was accompanied by a friend. The worker indicated that the friend was there to assist him with interpreting because his first language was not English. The Panel advised that the Tribunal provides qualified, impartial interpreters, if needed, and that, in accordance with the Tribunal's practice direction on Interpreters, relatives and friends cannot interpret at a hearing. The Panel indicated that that it would adjourn the hearing to obtain a professional interpreter if the worker needed one, but the worker elected to proceed with the hearing without the assistance of an interpreter.On the evidence, the worker's left foot condition was not secondary condition resulting from altered gait.The appeal was dismissed.
