On May 6, 2024, the WSIAT will launch its new pre-hearing process. On that date, our website will be updated with new process content, forms and practice directions.
If you’re starting a new appeal on (or after) that date, please use the new Notice of Appeal Form. After that date, please discard any old forms you have (paper or electronic).
As a reminder, the purpose of the new pre-hearing process is to improve access to justice by:
- Improving our timelines to meet our organizational goals
- Making our materials and processes as clear and easy to understand as possible
- Integrating our processes with e-initiatives (E-File/E-Share)
- Addressing other issues and concerns that have been raised over time (For example, informed consent)
We’ll be working electronically as the default in the new process. If you’re a party to an appeal at the WSIAT and haven’t already signed up for E-Share, please complete and send us a WSIAT E-Share Service Consent Form as soon as possible. You can send forms and documents to us via E-File.
After May 6, we’ll start to transition cases from the old process to the new process. We expect this will take up to 6 months for all active cases.
If you have any questions about the new process, please contact our Call Centre at 416-314-8800 or 1-888-618-8846 (toll-free within Ontario).
