Chair’s Message
This is my second Annual Report as the Chair of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal. The year 2020 presented significant and unprecedented challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic that changed the ways in which we live, socialize, and work.
I am proud to report that WSIAT’s Order in Council (OIC) appointees and staff worked creatively and diligently to ensure that we continued to provide timely and responsive service in 2020. Although OICs and the majority of staff worked remotely, the WSIAT continued to reduce the time to first-offered hearing and the time to complete matters in 2020. We also collected and responded to stakeholder feedback to improve our alternative hearing method processes and the level of service to parties and representatives.
