Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal Business Plan 2021 to 2023

February 10, 2021

The Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal (the “WSIAT”) is pleased to share its Business Plan 2021 to 2023. The annual Business Plan maps out the agency’s strategic direction for the next three fiscal years. The WSIAT is committed to making its processes more modern and accessible; at the same time, the WSIAT will maintain its high standards as the independent, final level of appeal for workplace safety and insurance matters in Ontario, adjudicating the matters before it in accordance with the principles of natural justice and fairness, and issuing well-reasoned decisions that are justifiable, transparent, and intelligible.

2021 will be a year of continued transformation and modernization with a focus on improving access to justice and using technology to be more efficient. The WSIAT will continue to adapt to the remote working environment and build upon the operational changes and innovations implemented in 2020, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2021, the WSIAT is also looking to build on the awareness of cultural competency and inclusion gained in 2020, by bringing equity and diversity to the forefront. This will ensure that these values inform all of our decisions, both as a service provider to the public, and as an employer.

After a challenging and unpredictable year, the WSIAT is optimistic for the year ahead.
