Finding a Representative

If you are a worker, you can contact the Office of the Worker Adviser (OWA) to obtain assistance with your appeal. The OWA is an independent agency of the Ministry of Labour and its services are available free of charge to workers who do not have a union to assist them. OWA staff are trained to deal with workplace safety and insurance cases. The OWA's role is to assist workers as quickly as possible by providing advice, education and/or representation, depending on the nature of a case and the issues involved. It should be noted that the OWA is unable to assist workers who are members of a union. If you are a unionized employee, you can contact your local union office about possible representation or hire a lawyer or consultant.

For a list of representatives in your area, please the see the Worker Referral Information sheet, available on this web site.

If you are an employer, you can contact the Office of the Employer Advisor (OEA) to obtain assistance with your appeal. The OEA is an independent agency of the Ministry of Labour and its services are available free of charge, with a focus on employers that have fewer than 100 employees.

For a list of representatives in your area, please see the Employer Referral Information Sheet, available on this web site.
